ABOUT ME

"You can always edit a bad page. You can't edit a blank one"

- Jodi Picoult

There's still something faintly terrifying about an About Me page. You're essentially asked to hold a mirror up to yourself and describe what you see - which, for a writer, should be easy. We do that all the time. Just never about ourselves.

So. Here goes.

I've been a number of things. I trained as an actor at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and spent years performing on stage - including a West End run and a world tour in a Simon and Garfunkel tribute show (I played Simon; I lack the hair and the high notes for Garfunkel). I've been an English teacher for nearly a decade. I'm a singer, a guitar player, and an avid gamer (proudly on his 4th playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3).

But the thing I've been longer than anything else is a storyteller.

I've been drawn to fantasy, folklore, and mythology for as long as I can remember - from Tolkien's The Hobbit, which was one of the first books I ever read, to the vast, strange worlds of modern speculative fiction. My writing lives in those spaces: dark, mythic, character-driven stories rooted in the traditions I grew up loving.

My debut novel, The Book of Mim, is a retelling of Norse mythology - and the project I'm most proud of. I'm currently seeking representation for it.

On this corner of the internet you'll find short stories, the occasional review, and blog posts about whatever's currently taking up space in my head. Feedback is always welcome - he says, bracing himself.

Thanks for stopping by.
